Members of the ActGREEN project team, colleagues from city offices, and ZET representatives visited the City of Ljubljana on 17 December 2025. Since the City of Ljubljana, like the City of Zagreb, is one of the 100 climate‑neutral and smart cities and is also part of the NetZeroCities consortium, this event represents a continuation of the excellent cooperation between the two cities.
Namely, the City of Ljubljana visited the City of Zagreb, the Zagreb Energy Centre (ZEC), and the greened courtyards on 22 October 2025 to exchange knowledge and experience in project management, decarbonisation, and sustainability (more at the
link). Our colleagues then invited us for a return visit so that we could present the activities of the ActGREEN project, the legislative solution of the Courtyard Greening Decision, and the project’s progress.
This event represents an activity within the project’s
sensemaking component, specifically the sub‑activity of
networking and knowledge exchange with mission cities within the ActGREEN project.
After the host’s introductory speech at the Innovation Hub of the City of Ljubljana, three presentations followed.
Nebojša Ivančević and Natalia Halbauer (City of Zagreb) presented the activities of the
ActGREEN project and future plans.
Iva Rechner Dika from the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Agriculture, as a project partner, presented the technical details of the project, while Barbara Tomičević from the City Office for Local Self‑Government, Transport, Civil Protection and Security presented the City of Zagreb’s green projects.
The event concluded with questions from the audience and the exchange of experiences and contacts among participants.
After the presentation segment, the delegation visited green bus stop shelters in Ljubljana and the botanical garden. The nature‑based solutions observed there are planned for implementation in the City of Zagreb, making this event an excellent opportunity to gain new insights into decarbonisation processes. In addition, this was a unique opportunity to promote the ActGREEN project and to present the City of Zagreb as a strong partner with experience in project implementation.
The event provided an excellent opportunity to build valuable contacts, exchange information and knowledge, and identify partners for future projects.
