The City Assembly of the City of Zagreb, on Thursday, 5 September 2024, at the first session after the summer recess, adopted the proposal of the
Courtyard Greening Decision, which facilitates the arrangement of courtyards and green areas for building owners/co‑owners.
The City of Zagreb will implement and finance courtyard greening measures that contribute to climate change adaptation, improvement of biodiversity and reduction of energy consumption, which will include the removal of impermeable paving and the installation and arrangement of permeable surfaces or reflective paving.
It will also include the planting of trees and low vegetation, lawn installation, rain gardens, biodiverse flowering meadows, preparation of garden beds for plant cultivation, installation of green pergolas, installation of seating elements, installation of insect and bird hotels/houses, rainwater collection for maintaining green areas, installation of children’s play equipment and seating elements, installation of composters, and installation of lighting that uses solar energy.
To implement and finance courtyard greening measures, the Mayor will publish a public call open to all interested citizens.
