The
ActGREEN project team participated in the
3rd European GREEN Conference, held in
Vodice from 10 to 13 June 2025, organised by the
International Association of Environmental Scientists and Professionals (IAESP) and the Faculty of Food Technology in Osijek, represented by
Prof. Mirna Habuda Stanić, PhD, and her colleagues.
IAESP is a non‑profit and non‑governmental organisation established with the aim of connecting scientists and professionals working in the field of environmental protection, while promoting a multidisciplinary approach to addressing the challenges of climate change, natural‑resource management and the achievement of sustainable‑development goals.
The conference brought together experts from various sectors, including the scientific community, public institutions and the private sector, highlighting the importance of interdisciplinary cooperation, knowledge exchange and networking with potential partners.
The
ActGREEN project team — in cooperation with the
University of Zagreb Faculty of Agriculture and the City of Zagreb — submitted two scientific abstracts that were presented within the conference programme:

The presentation focused on the
participatory approach fostered by the project, exploring citizens’ relationship with the environment, their values, norms and behaviours, and the ways in which the environment shapes their everyday choices. The research was conducted anonymously, with the aim of better understanding human-environment interaction.

The presentation highlighted the benefits
of nature‑based solutions in urban environments, showcasing the results of citizen workshops, the process of redesigning a block courtyard in Zagreb, and examples of good practice in cooperation with the local community.
The costs of implementing activities and courtyard improvements are covered by the ActGREEN project through the
Horizon Europe programme and the
NetZeroCities consortium.
Representing the City of Zagreb at the conference were
Irena Matković, Deputy Head of the City Office for Reconstruction, Construction, Spatial Planning, Building and Municipal Services, and
Nebojša Ivančević, project manager at the Department for Preparation and Implementation of Projects of the City Administration Office.
During the conference, numerous contacts for future cooperation were established, including with the team of the Public Institution of the County Development Agency of Osijek‑Baranja County (colleagues Adela Sadiković and Ivana Kiščinal), as well as collaborators from the Faculty of Food Technology in Osijek and other conference participants.
