On 26 February, a workshop titled “My Green Courtyard” was held at ZgForum, bringing together 25 residents of the city districts Donji and Gornji Grad. The workshop was organised by the ActGREEN project partner team.
Participants had the opportunity to discuss several important topics, including:
- How can we act together to reduce the effects of climate change?
- How do our green courtyards contribute to the sustainability of environmental conditions such as air quality?
- What does this mean for us?
- How can we design our green courtyards together?
- What can we do to keep them beautiful and functional for many years?
- What do we like to see in our courtyards?
- How would we like our green courtyards to look in the future?
The workshop was led by
Iva Rechner Dika, supported by colleagues
Ines Hrdalo,
Jana Kiralj Lacković and
Miroslav Poje, as well as students from the Faculty of Agriculture in Zagreb. Participants had the opportunity to create their ideal courtyard in the form of a collage, using various elements such as trees, shrubs, benches and other features. This visual approach allowed participants to practically imagine the space they would like to design, taking into account functionality, aesthetics and ecological aspects.
During the workshop, citizens were asked about their motivations and experiences related to maintaining inner courtyards. Participants expressed great interest in further education and in independently maintaining and designing their green spaces, encouraging active involvement in environmental preservation.
This workshop supports the goals of the project “Activation of Green Courtyards for Carbon Neutrality”, which is based on cooperation with citizens to improve the urban environment and adapt to climate change.
We thank all participants for their active engagement and look forward to future workshops.
